Vintage BMF Silver-Plated 5-Arm Candelabra – Bayerische Metallwarenfabrik
A magnificent five-arm silver-plated candelabra by BMF — Bayerische Metallwarenfabrik, the renowned Bavarian metalware manufacturer founded in Geislingen, Germany. BMF was celebrated for the quality and craftsmanship of their silver-plated decorative pieces, and this candelabra is a fine example of their work.
Five candle arms radiate from a central baluster stem, each terminating in a fluted, bell-shaped sconce with a swirling twist detail. The scrolled arms feature acanthus-leaf curl terminals in the Baroque revival style, rising from a stepped, gadrooned oval base with a scalloped edge. A piece that brings gravitas and warmth to any dining table or sideboard.
The base bears the BMF triangle hallmark alongside the Grade 90 silver-plate mark (90 grams of pure silver per 100 dm² of surface — the European quality standard). The piece has been freshly polished and presents with a bright mirror finish. As a vintage item, light signs of age and use are visible upon close inspection — consistent with its history.
