Vintage Brass Rampant Lion Bottle Opener – Cast Brass, 13 cm, Hanging Ring
A magnificent vintage bottle opener cast in solid brass, formed as a rampant heraldic lion — mane flowing, one foreleg raised in the classic passant pose, tail curled behind. The casting is detailed and confident: the mane is rendered with individual strands, the musculature of the body is clearly defined, and the face has a proud, leonine expression that would not look out of place on a coat of arms.
A hanging ring is cast into the back of the lion's body, allowing it to be suspended from a hook in a kitchen, bar, or pantry — or simply displayed as the decorative object it is. The bottle opener slot is integrated cleanly into the base, making this a fully functional piece as well as a handsome one.
The brass has developed a warm, uneven patina over the years — brighter on the raised surfaces of the mane and body, darker in the recesses — giving it the depth and character that only age can produce. A piece that looks equally at home on a bar cart, a kitchen shelf, or a collector's display.
