Vintage Gmundner Keramik Double Candle Holder | Two-Arm Ceramic Candelabra | Multicolour Stripe Pattern, c. Mid-20th Century
Vintage Gmundner Keramik Double Candle Holder — Austria
Two-Arm Ceramic Candelabra — Multicolour Buntgeflammt Stripe Pattern
A charming and relatively rare two-arm ceramic candle holder by Gmundner Keramik, Austria’s beloved folk pottery tradition. While single candlesticks are the more common Gmundner form, this double candelabra — with two gracefully curved arms rising from a shared central stem and round base — is a more unusual and sought-after piece.
The decoration is the vibrant multicolour stripe pattern — hand-painted bands of teal-green, blue-grey, and warm yellow on a crisp white ground, wrapping continuously around every surface of the piece. This lively, folk-art palette gives the candelabra a joyful, characterful presence on any table or mantelpiece.
The base bears the authentic Gmundner Keramik diamond backstamp, confirming its Austrian origin and period.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks. The glaze is bright and even throughout, with the characteristic hand-painted variation that makes each Gmundner piece unique. Fully functional for use with standard taper candles.
