Vintage Hand-Tooled Crimson Leather Book / Journal Cover | Deeply Embossed Floral Bouquet in Classical Urn | Gold-Tooled Border | Whipstitch Edge | Fabric-Lined Interior | approx. 20 × 14 cm

A magnificent piece of vintage leather craft — a hand-tooled crimson leather book or journal cover of exceptional quality and presence, worked in the finest tradition of European and Mediterranean decorative leatherwork. The deep, rich burgundy-crimson leather has developed a beautiful natural patina that speaks of age and quality, and the surface is worked with a level of detail and relief that can only be achieved by hand.

The front cover is dominated by a deeply embossed floral bouquet — roses, daisies, and lush foliage arranged in a classical urn or vase — surrounded by a gold-tooled decorative border of a fine floral vine and rosette chain motif. The embossing has extraordinary three-dimensional depth: the petals, leaves, and urn are raised well above the background, creating a sculptural quality that catches the light from every angle.

The back cover features a deeply embossed geometric / pseudo-runic border frame with a plain centre panel — ideal for a personalised label, monogram, or simply as a decorative reverse. The entire perimeter of both covers is finished with a hand-whipstitched / laced leather edge — a labour-intensive finishing technique that is the hallmark of quality hand-crafted leatherwork. The interior is lined with a smooth brown fabric / textile lining.

The style — crimson leather, deep floral embossing, gold tooling, and whipstitch edge — is characteristic of the finest Florentine Italian or North African / Moroccan leather craft traditions, both of which have produced this type of decorative cover for centuries.
