Vintage Mid-Century Italian Hand-Carved Wooden Bowl with Pierced Handles — Celtic Knotwork, Made in Italy
Italian Craftsmanship — Hand-Carved Folk Art at Its Finest
This exceptional vintage wooden bowl is a superb example of mid-20th century Italian hand-carving at its most accomplished. Every surface — interior, exterior, and handles — is covered in a dense, precisely executed Celtic / folk knotwork interlace pattern, with a central sunburst medallion at the base of the bowl and a zigzag border running along the rim. The two wide handles are pierced in a geometric lattice / wheel motif, adding both visual lightness and a sculptural quality to the piece.
The warm walnut-brown wood has developed a beautiful natural patina with age, and the base is stamped "made in Italy / per alimenti" — confirming both its Italian origin and its food-safe status, making it as practical as it is beautiful.
